Who I Am

Hello and welcome to Lauren and the Story Box, thanks for dropping by!

I'm Lauren Grierson and I LOVE writing and telling stories in all their forms and I'm always on the look out for new and challenging projects. 2020 has certainly provided plenty of challenges so far but it hasn't stopped me telling stories with my work moving online to Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. I've created online content for Museum of London, Orleans House Gallery and Harrow Green Community Library as well as producing a series of Story Adventures and Story Challenges just for fun!

This is what I do and I love doing it! I also love adventures, make believe and play (but who doesn't right?!) I have been fortunate enough to work on very varied projects, from STEM to Shakespeare and everything in between. But, no matter what the subject matter, making learning an immersive, often unexpected and, at times, comical adventure is my ultimate aim. In the end, it is seeing the children's faces light up with excitement and their imaginations bursting that makes me come away happy and feeling very privileged to be doing what I do.

On a more personal note, I also love tea (like REALLY love tea), dislike peanut butter with a passion (yes, really, I can't stand it) and when I am not working I love being out and about, exploring new places with my little boy. And on that note, I am also a wife to my lovely husband Ian, mum to my one year old son, Ernie (aka. Captain Chaos) and live with two exceptionally naughty but lovable house rabbits, called Marmalade and Cottontail.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions, bookings or creative collaborations. You can also follow me and subscribe to my social media channels to keep up to date with all my latest projects and blogs!

What I Do

I am a freelance storyteller, writer and producer of culture sector and school storytelling sessions in and around London.

My client list includes Kew Gardens, Historic Royal Palaces, Museum of London, Museum of London Docklands, The Royal Academy, London Transport Museum, National Trust and many schools and nurseries in London and beyond (Dubai is the furthest so far!).

Whatever your theme, topic, exhibition, display, key stage or age group; I can create, write, produce and deliver your session. I can deliver the following:

Live Interactive Storytelling

Online Storytelling Content

Live Streamed Storytelling

Regular Storytelling & Drama Clubs

My mission is simple, I don't just tell stories, I offer adventures. I bring stories to life by turning them into wholly immersive and interactive experiences, offering a chance to be transported into the magical world of the story itself. Whether it's delivered live, or online, participants of my storytelling become the characters on an enthralling quest with a mission to complete.

I can take any book, exhibition, theme, invention, historical figure or event and create a bespoke, live or online interactive story for your organisation. Just let me know what information you would like me to include and I will make it fun and educational for your audience. I have written stories for both children and adults for a wide range of museums, galleries, nurseries and schools.

I am also an experienced producer of workshops, performances and online content. I can produce sessions of any length or frequency and cater to any audience. I can source props and materials and include craft activities alongside storytelling and drama elements. I can also provide raw video footage, or edit a film to include effects and text ready for your to post online.

My sessions build confidence, educate, entertain and encourage creative thinking and teamwork. Play lies at the heart of all my sessions and is used as a tool to enable the children to discover and explore their imagination.

"This workshop was absolutely brilliant. From knowing very little about Macbeth, the children went away with not only a real feel of the play, but an eagerness to learn more about Shakespeare and his other plays. All abilities were catered for, everyone felt involved and most importantly everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thank you Lauren for planning and delivering such a great workshop!"
